Warren Buffett & Integrity
Warren Buffett’s Warning to Students: Why Integrity Matters Now (Before It’s Too Late)
Warren Buffett once said:
“When we hire people, we look for intelligence, we look for initiative or energy, and we look for integrity. And if they don’t have the latter, the first two will kill you—because if you’re going to get somebody without integrity, you want them lazy and dumb.”

His point? Brilliance without honesty is dangerous. Someone smart and driven but dishonest can do far more damage than someone who’s simply ineffective.
A Message to Students: Your Character is Being Shaped Right Now
If you’re cheating on exams, cutting corners, or lying to get ahead, here’s the hard truth: The habits you build today will define your future.
It’s easier to change now than later. As a student, you’re at the beginning of your journey. Small dishonest choices might seem harmless, but they shape who you become.
Character gets harder to change with time. The more you justify small lies or cheat now, the harder it will be to act with integrity when the stakes are higher—like in your career, relationships, or leadership roles.
Do you really want to be the person who succeeds by deception? Imagine getting a job because you faked your way through school—only to be exposed later, losing trust, respect, and opportunities.
The Choice is Yours
Buffett’s wisdom isn’t just for CEOs—it’s for you. Every time you choose honesty over cheating, you’re building a reputation that will open doors (or close them).
Ask yourself:
Would I want a surgeon who cheated through med school operating on me?
Would I trust a business partner who lies to get ahead?
If I don’t act with integrity now, when will I start?
Your future self will thank you for making the right choice today.
