Burger

Burger

Indulging in a burger every single day might not earn you a gold star in the health department, but let's face it, resisting the temptation is like trying to dodge a speeding train of flavor. Picture this: it's Saturday, and I'm on a mission. Two chicken burgers from the joint in the snapshot. Why? Because not only are they finger-licking good, but they also come with a side of friendship.

Enter John, the English aficionado. He's not just flipping patties; he's flipping through textbooks, determined to master the language. And guess what? Our weekly burger rendezvous has transformed us into buddies. Sure, the burgers are scrumptious, but the real meat of the matter is the delightful banter we share. So, if you're on the hunt for a top-notch burger joint inside university campus, trust me, this place is the real deal.

Why You Should Follow Teachers' Advice.

Teacher advice

Why You Should Follow Teachers' Advice.

Teachers offer advice with the intention of helping their students succeed. However, not all students heed this advice, often leading to disappointment in their academic performance. Let me explain further.

At the beginning of the semester, I assigned two tasks to be completed by the end of April 2024. I emphasized the importance of not procrastinating, as submitting assignments early would allow for feedback and corrections, ultimately maximizing grades.

Despite the warning, many students waited until the last day to submit their work. Yesterday, amidst a full day of classes, I received numerous submissions to assess. Due to time constraints, I couldn't provide feedback as promised. This scenario highlights common issues encountered:

  1. Broken links within submissions.
  2. Missing or incorrect links to the original sources.
  3. Failure to meet the minimum word count requirement.
  4. Submission of screenshots instead of the required content.
  5. Minimal effort from last-minute submitters compared to those who completed the task earlier and produced well-structured reviews.

In essence, the assignment was straightforward, and with effort, students could have achieved high scores. My grading was fair, not penalizing for minor errors.

Upon closing submissions, I anticipate inquiries from students dissatisfied with their grades. Hence, I'm writing this to direct them here.

There's no excuse for subpar performance. Those truly dedicated to learning English will find ways to practice and improve. The disparity between committed and indifferent students is evident in class participation and engagement.

Monthly reports highlight exceptional students who actively participate, engage in exercises, and seek additional learning opportunities. They are the reason for my passion in teaching. However, there are also those who show little interest, as observed in today's classes, here show at the following pictures:

The Perils of Procrastination

Deadline

The Perils of Procrastination: A Comedy of Errors with a Serious Twist

Ah, the sweet melody of procrastination, where deadlines are merely suggestions and the adrenaline rush of last-minute panic becomes our closest companion. But hold on, dear students, for I come bearing tales of caution and a plea for your timely action!

Picture this: you've been warned, admonished, and practically begged not to leave your assignments to the eleventh hour. Yet, like moths to a flame, you find yourselves dancing dangerously close to disaster, armed only with the feeble excuse that "accidents happen."

Now, I'm not here to rain on your procrastination parade with a dull lecture about responsibility and time management. No, no, no! Instead, let's embark on a whimsical journey through the land of academic mishaps and the consequences of your procrastination prowess.

Imagine, if you will, a grand spectacle of chaos unfolding before your very eyes. It's the night before the deadline, and you're frantically typing away, fueled by caffeine and sheer desperation. Suddenly, disaster strikes! Your internet connection decides to take an impromptu vacation, leaving you stranded in a digital wasteland. Oh, the horror! But wait, there's more.

As you scramble to find a solution, fate throws another curveball your way. Your laptop, faithful companion in times of academic turmoil, chooses this precise moment to stage a rebellion of its own. Blue screen of death, anyone? It's like a tragic comedy unfolding in real-time, with you playing the role of the hapless protagonist.

But here's the punchline, my dear students: while accidents may indeed happen, they're often the unfortunate byproduct of our own procrastination. You see, by leaving things to the last minute, we're essentially playing a dangerous game of academic roulette, where the odds are never in our favor.

So, the next time you find yourself tempted by the siren song of procrastination, remember this cautionary tale. Think of it as your friendly neighborhood reminder that while accidents may be inevitable, they're far less likely to occur when you plan ahead and heed the warnings of your wise academic advisors.

In conclusion, let us bid farewell to the land of procrastination and embrace the sweet serenity of timely action. For in doing so, we not only safeguard ourselves against the perils of last-minute chaos but also pave the way for a brighter, more successful academic future.

Now, go forth, dear students, and conquer those deadlines with the fervor of a thousand scholars! And remember, the only accidents we should be embracing are happy accidents in the realm of creativity, not the avoidable calamities of procrastination gone awry.

Sports Event

Sports Event (April 2024)

Sports Event (April 2024)

This year, I decided not to participate in the sports competition. Instead, I opted to attend as a spectator. Last year, despite enjoying being part of the competition, my performance actually led my team to lose. This year, I felt even less prepared than before.

Attending sports events is always enjoyable. They provide a great opportunity to capture moments through photographs and reminisce about university life. Although I'm no longer a student, I still cherish these events as they remind me of my time teaching at a university in China.

My experience here has been filled with enjoyment, valuable job experiences, and many friendships. These two-day events offer a relaxed atmosphere to catch up with students and see how they're doing. This year, I particularly enjoyed watching the cheerleaders perform during breaks.

I brought my camera along and captured many moments, but the best pictures are always those available on the university website, which I downloaded to add to my collection.

Unlocking Your Reading Potential

Unlocking Your Reading Potential: The Proof is in the Pudding

Unlocking Your Reading Potential: The Proof is in the Pudding

If you've ever found yourself stumbling through a reading assignment or struggling to pronounce words in class, fear not. What I'm about to reveal isn't about pointing fingers, but rather offering a solution that can transform your reading skills, pronunciation, spelling, and more.

Picture this: a side-by-side comparison of students reading aloud during class sessions versus the intensity of a final exam. Surprisingly, the latter showcases a marked improvement in pronunciation and clarity (in most cases). But why the stark contrast? In class, despite my best efforts with a microphone, students often mumble through passages, seemingly aiming to keep their voices at a whisper. It's a defense mechanism, I suspect, shielding them from potential embarrassment among peers.

Now, here's the crux of the matter. During exams, students likely prepare meticulously. They practice reading their assigned texts multiple times, perhaps enlisting the help of a more proficient classmate or leveraging technology to refine their pronunciation. The result? A polished performance aimed at securing better grades.

But here's the kicker: if they can muster this level of dedication for exams, why not apply it consistently to enhance their skills overall?

Last semester, I provided students with a treasure trove of books, each accompanied by an audio version. The task was simple yet effective: listen to the audio while following along with the text, then practice reading aloud. It's a two-pronged approach—first, learning correct pronunciation, then honing it through practice. Imagine the progress achievable with just a few minutes of this routine each day.

This method isn't merely about improving pronunciation and spelling; it's about expanding vocabulary and deepening comprehension. And guess what? It can actually be enjoyable! Learning shouldn't feel like a chore but rather a rewarding journey—one that's best embarked upon regularly, with enthusiasm.

Mastering a new language isn't about cramming for hours on end; it's about consistent, smart practice infused with enjoyment. Trust me, learning is far more effective when it's fun.

So, to all the students out there striving for improvement, consider this your wake-up call. The path to enhancing your English skills is simpler than you think—and I'm here to guide you every step of the way.

Nobody is perfect

Nobody is perfect

Hey folks, guess what? I had a hilarious blunder today while checking my class schedule for the week. Turns out, I somehow managed to teach the same class twice for same group os students! 🤦‍♂️ So, I did what any confused teacher would do – I messaged my class group to see if I was losing my mind. And you know what they said? They confirmed my goof-up! But here's the kicker: they thought I was doing a double feature on purpose, like some kind of teaching genius revision. 🤣 Can you believe it?

Anyway, I was scratching my head wondering why they didn't give me a heads-up during class. Their excuse? They thought I was just doing a super sneaky review session as I said before. Fair enough, but couldn't they have asked? So, here I am, folks, reminding everyone of the golden rule: Nobody's perfect! Let's all learn from this mishap and promise to speak up if something seems off, deal? 🤓📚

Fashion Show

Fashion Show - April 2024

I just returned from the most delightful presentation! I must admit, I wasn't expecting to be swept off my feet, especially since I'm not particularly keen on fashion. But oh boy, was I pleasantly surprised! It was an explosion of color, elegance, and sheer creativity. The attention to detail was simply mesmerizing.

Sadly, my schedule is packed with classes tomorrow and Wednesday, so I'll have to miss out on those days. But fear not, if the stars align and my calendar permits, I'll definitely make a comeback on Thursday or Friday. Although, I must confess, there's a slight dilemma looming over my head. You see, the university has organized a sports meeting on those very days, and I'm torn between the allure of fashion and the thrill of sports. Decisions, decisions!
