A Friend's Journey: How Helping Others Improve Their English Led to Lasting Friendships
Making new friends while helping them improve their English can be a rewarding experience. It not only helps you connect with people from different backgrounds but also provides an opportunity to share your knowledge and expertise with others. In this post, I will share my experience of how I made good friends in English corner activities while helping them improve their English.
One of my friends, Xiao Feng, had poor English skills when I first met her at an English corner activity. She approached me and asked if I could help her improve her English. I was happy to oblige, and we decided to spend time together every weekend.
We would often go for a walk around the lake, grab a bite to eat, or even go shopping together. I made sure that we spoke in English as much as possible, and I would help her with any difficult words or phrases that she didn't understand. Over time, her English started to improve, and she became more confident in speaking.
In just four months, Xiao Fan's English had improved significantly, and she could speak to me almost without the help of her phone. We had a lot of fun together and enjoyed each other's company. We rented a boat to ride on the lake, went bicycling, and tried many other fun activities together.
When I was about to leave Zhuzhou, we went to watch an orchestra at the municipal theater. It was a great way to say goodbye to my friend, and I will always remember that evening. I miss my friend and hope that the English she improved with my help will bless her life in the future.
Xiao Feng's improvement in English did not go unnoticed by her classmates. They started to inquire about where she was taking the English course that made her improve her English so fast. Xiao Feng proudly shared that she was not taking any formal English courses but was learning from a friend who was helping her improve her English through casual conversations and fun activities. Her classmates were amazed and impressed by her progress. It was a great feeling to know that I was not only helping my friend but also making a positive impact on the lives of others in our English corner group.
In conclusion, helping others improve their English skills can be a great way to make new friends and learn about different cultures. It requires patience, dedication, and a willingness to spend time with others. If you have the opportunity to help someone with their English skills, I highly recommend it. Who knows, you might just make a lifelong friend in the process.

In today's highly competitive job market, finding a job can be a daunting task. The traditional way of looking for a job involves scouring through job postings on various online portals, submitting resumes, and waiting for a response. However, this approach may not always yield results as there could be hundreds of other candidates vying for the same position. Fortunately, there is a more effective way to find job opportunities - through networking.
Networking is a process of building relationships with people who may be able to provide you with valuable information, advice, and job leads. These contacts could be your friends, family, former colleagues, or even strangers you meet at industry events or conferences. By developing a strong network of contacts, you increase your chances of finding job opportunities that may not be advertised publicly.
One of the main advantages of networking is that it helps you tap into the hidden job market. Not all job vacancies are publicly advertised, and many employers prefer to fill positions through referrals or recommendations. This means that by networking, you could hear about job openings that are not advertised anywhere else. This gives you a significant advantage over other candidates who rely solely on job postings.
Moreover, networking allows you to showcase your skills and expertise to potential employers. When you establish a connection with someone, you have the opportunity to demonstrate your value proposition and explain how you can help their organization. This could lead to a referral or recommendation, which can be more powerful than a resume submitted through a job portal.
But don't just take my word for it - the proof is in the pudding. Here is a screenshot of my inbox, showing some of the job offers I have received from my network:
As you can see, these job offers came directly from people in my network who thought I would be a good fit for the positions. None of these opportunities were publicly advertised, and I wouldn't have known about them if I hadn't been networking.
In conclusion, networking is a powerful tool for finding job opportunities that many people overlook. By developing a strong network of contacts and showcasing your skills and expertise, you increase your chances of finding job openings that may not be advertised publicly. So, if you're struggling to find your next job, consider networking - it just might be the key to your success.
Networking is an essential part of building a successful career.
Networking is an essential part of building a successful career. It provides opportunities for you to meet professionals in your field of study, expand your knowledge, and develop meaningful connections that can help you advance your career. Whether you're a student just starting out or a seasoned professional, networking is a valuable tool that can help you achieve your career goals.
Once upon a time, there was a person named Marcelo Gameiro (witch is myself). Mr. Gameiro was always interested in learning new languages, and so he started to make friends online with people who didn't speak his native language. This was a great opportunity for him to practice speaking English. One day, he started talking to a girl named Ms Xinel Lee, who lived in China.
Xinel was a kind and friendly person who soon became Mr. Gameiro's good friend. During one of their conversations, Xinel asked Mr. Gameiro if he were interested in teaching in China. Mr. Gameiro was surprised by this offer, but he were also excited about the opportunity to work and live in a new country.
Xinel then introduced Mr. Gameiro to her company, which was looking for English teachers and other types of teachers as well. Mr. Gameiro was hired to teach Corporate finance and Investment valuation. The one thing who increase the chances of Mr. Gameiro to be hired was not his academic credential witch was off course important, but the fact he was introduced to the company by an employee, he did not apply for the job like everybody else did.
Mr. Gameiro was thrilled and couldn't believe that he had found a job in China through networking, a job that he was not even looking or searching for.
Mr. Gameiro also find out that many companies would often send out letters asking if their employees knew anyone who would be suitable for a job. If the employee referred someone who was then hired, the employee would receive a bonus for that month. This made Mr. Gameiro realize the importance of having a strong network and how it can benefit not only himselve, but also their friends and colleagues.
From that day on, Mr. Gameiro continued to expand his network and make new friends. He never forgot the lesson that he learned about the power of networking and how it can open doors and provide opportunities that might not have been possible otherwise. Mr. Gameiro was grateful to Ms. Xinel and other friends for their support and encouragement, and they lived (“employed in China – teaching”) happily ever after, and making new friends along the way.

I also encourage students to use LinkedIn to seek out and learn from industry leaders, participate in groups related to their field, and showcase their work and accomplishments through their profile.
By leveraging LinkedIn, my students have been able to build their professional network and gain valuable insights and connections that can help them advance their careers. The future of education is rapidly changing with the advent of technology. The integration of technology in the classroom has the potential to revolutionize the way we learn and teach. From online learning platforms to virtual classrooms, technology is transforming the traditional educational experience.
Before the pandemic, I was used to teaching face-to-face classes in China. I loved the interaction and energy in the classroom, and I always felt like I was making a difference in my students' lives. However, everything changed with the outbreak of the pandemic. Suddenly, we were all thrust into a new reality where online classes were the only way to continue teaching.
At first, I was skeptical about the online interaction. I was worried that the lack of physical presence would detract from the educational experience for my students. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the online classes turned out. Despite the initial challenges, I found that the students were still engaged and excited to learn.
Learning new technology was a big part of the transition to online classes. I had to learn how to use new tools like video conferencing platforms, screen sharing, and online collaboration tools. It was a steep learning curve, but I was determined to make the best of the situation.
As I struggled to learn and adapt to the new tools, I also found that there were many useful resources and technologies that I would continue to use even after face-to-face classes returned. For example, online collaboration tools made it easier for me to share and organize course materials with my students (Here is Math course I used to teach in Huzhou university, now it is available here online). Additionally, online assessments and quizzes allowed me to better assess my students' progress and understanding.
One important thing I learned was the importance of a good internet connection. During online classes, I experienced internet connection drops, low sound quality, and other technical difficulties. It was frustrating, but it also reinforced the importance of a strong and stable internet connection.
The transition to online classes due to the pandemic was a challenging experience, but it also taught me the importance of being adaptable and open-minded. I learned new technology and tools that I will continue to use in the future, and I discovered that the educational experience can still be enjoyable and effective even in a virtual setting.
One of the biggest benefits of using technology in the classroom is accessibility. With online learning platforms, students can access educational resources and materials from anywhere with an internet connection. This makes education more accessible to a wider range of students, especially those in remote or underprivileged areas. Additionally, technology allows for more personalized learning experiences, as students can work at their own pace and choose materials that are relevant to their interests and abilities.
Another benefit of technology in education is the ability to enhance the teaching experience. With virtual classrooms and interactive learning tools, teachers can create engaging and dynamic lessons that capture the attention of their students. Technology also provides teachers with new ways to assess student learning and track progress, which can help to improve student outcomes.
However, there are also challenges that come with the integration of technology in education. One major concern is the digital divide, where not all students have equal access to technology and internet connectivity. This can create disparities in educational opportunities and outcomes. Another challenge is ensuring that students are learning valuable digital literacy skills and not becoming overly reliant on technology.
In conclusion, technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we learn and teach. With the benefits of increased accessibility, personalized learning experiences, and enhanced teaching methods, technology is poised to shape the future of education. However, it is important to address the challenges that come with technology integration in education, including the digital divide and the importance of developing digital literacy skills. As the use of technology in education continues to evolve, it will be important to strike a balance between the benefits and challenges, in order to create a future of education that is accessible, engaging, and impactful.

Dating During College: Why It May Be Your Best Opportunity to Find Your Partner.
College is a time of discovery, self-discovery, and growth. It is also a time when many young people start to form meaningful relationships and explore the dating world. In many cases, college can be the best opportunity to find the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Here's why:
Age and level of education: College brings together people of similar ages and education levels, making it easier to find someone who shares your interests and values.
Diversity: College campuses are known for their diversity, which means you have the opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Opportunities to socialize: College life is full of opportunities to socialize, including clubs, organizations, and events, which provide a great opportunity to meet new people and potentially find a partner.
It's important to remember that having a balanced life is key to overall health and development. Just studying hard and focusing on your career is not enough. People who prioritize their careers over forming relationships may end up feeling lonely and unfulfilled.
Unfortunately, for many women, the older they get, the more difficult it becomes to find a partner. This is why college is such a critical time for young women to start thinking about their future relationships and start exploring the dating world.
It's important to note that getting married does not mean you have to put your career plans on hold. If you choose a partner who supports and encourages your career aspirations, they can become a source of strength and motivation as you move forward in your professional journey. A good partner will be a team player who helps you reach your goals, rather than holding you back. So, don't let the fear of marriage hold you back from pursuing your dreams. Instead, choose a partner who will be a positive influence in your life and support your journey, both personally and professionally. With the right person by your side, you can have the best of both worlds and achieve success in both your personal and professional life.
While a successful career can bring financial stability and security, it's important to remember that career success does not always equate to happiness. In fact, many people who prioritize their careers over their personal lives end up feeling unfulfilled and alone. This is why it's crucial to prioritize your life in a way that allows you to have a healthy balance between your career and personal life.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is letting the opportunity to find a partner slip away in their younger years. As you get older, it can become more difficult to meet people and form meaningful relationships. This is why college is such a valuable time to start exploring the dating world and finding the person who will be your lifelong partner.
Dating during college can be a great opportunity to find a lifelong partner. By embracing the diversity and social opportunities that college life provides, you can find someone who shares your interests, values, and vision for the future. Don't miss out on this unique chance to start your journey towards a happy and fulfilling relationship.
In conclusion, while a successful career can bring financial benefits, it's not the only factor that contributes to happiness and fulfillment. It's important to prioritize your life in a way that allows you to have a healthy balance between your career and personal life, and not let the opportunity to find a partner pass you by. Remember, a loving and supportive partner can bring happiness and joy to your life, and will be a source of strength and motivation as you move forward in your professional journey.

Maximizing Your Time in College: Strategies for Balancing Studies, Work, and Social Life
College life can be hectic, especially for students who have to balance their studies with a part-time job and social life. However, with proper time management skills, it's possible to successfully balance these three areas of your life. Here are some strategies to help you maximize your time in college.
Create a schedule One of the most effective ways to manage your time is by creating a schedule. A schedule allows you to plan your day, week, and month ahead of time. This helps you to prioritize your responsibilities and avoid overloading your schedule. Be sure to include time for classes, studying, work, and social activities.
Prioritize your responsibilities When creating your schedule, prioritize your responsibilities. For example, class time should always be at the top of your priority list. Studies and homework should also be given a high priority, especially during exam periods. Work and social activities should come after you have completed your academic responsibilities.
Make use of free time College students often have free time between classes, use this time to catch up on reading, finish assignments, or take a break. This way, you can minimize stress and increase productivity.
Find a healthy balance between work and social life While work and social life are important, it's essential to find a healthy balance between them. A healthy social life is essential for maintaining good mental health, but it's also important not to let it interfere with your studies and work. On the other hand, working too much can also negatively impact your studies and social life. Find a balance that works for you and stick to it.
Manage your time efficiently. Finally, it's important to manage your time efficiently. This means avoiding procrastination, setting realistic deadlines, and avoiding multitasking. Instead, focus on one task at a time, giving it your full attention, and moving on to the next task once it's done.
Additionally, college is also a great place to meet new people and potentially even find love. With a large and diverse population of students from different backgrounds, you are likely to meet people who share your interests and passions. This is a unique opportunity to form meaningful relationships and connections, and who knows, you might even find your sweetheart during these years. After all, where else will you meet so many people at your age and level of education? College is a time to make memories, form relationships, and grow both personally and professionally. So, don't be afraid to put yourself out there, make new friends, and see where life takes you.
In conclusion, balancing your studies, work, and social life can be challenging, but with the right strategies, it is possible. By creating a schedule, prioritizing responsibilities, making use of free time, finding a healthy balance between work and social life, and managing time efficiently, you can maximize your time in college and achieve success in all areas of your life. Remember, college is not just about getting good grades but also about creating meaningful experiences and building relationships that will last a lifetime. So, make the most of your college years by taking care of yourself and finding the right balance between your academic, professional, and personal pursuits. The goal is to not just survive college, but to thrive and make the most of this unique and transformative time in your life.
Studying abroad is a unique and enriching opportunity that allows individuals to experience new cultures, improve language skills, and broaden their educational perspectives. With the globalization of the world, the benefits of studying abroad are becoming increasingly recognized and appreciated. In this article, we will discuss the advantages of studying abroad and provide tips on how to make the most of this experience.
In 1998, I took the bold step to go to the United States to study English. Little did I know that this decision would change my life forever. Studying in the US was an incredible experience. Not only did I improve my English skills, but I was also exposed to a new culture, made new friends, and learned to be independent. I stayed in the US until 2001, and when I returned to my home country, I felt like a different person.
However, my journey didn't end there. A few years later, I was able to move to Canada as an immigrant thanks to my improved English skills. Living in Canada was an incredible experience, and I was grateful for the opportunity to start a new chapter in my life.
Today, I find myself in China, teaching and having an amazing experience. Again, my English skills have played a significant role in my success. I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way because of my ability to speak and understand the language.
In conclusion, studying abroad changed my life in ways that I could never have imagined. The experience not only helped me improve my English skills, but it also exposed me to new cultures, opened doors for me, and gave me new opportunities. I am grateful for my time in the US and Canada, and I am proud of what I have accomplished because of my ability to speak and understand the English language.
One of the most significant benefits of studying abroad is the opportunity to immerse yourself in another culture. Being in a foreign country gives you a unique chance to learn about different customs, beliefs, and traditions. This experience helps to broaden your horizons and challenge your perspectives, providing a deeper understanding of the world and its diverse cultures. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends, meet people from different backgrounds, and form lasting relationships.
In addition to cultural immersion, studying abroad also offers the chance to develop language skills. Whether you are studying in a country where your native language is spoken or not, being in an environment where you are surrounded by people speaking a different language can be an incredibly effective way to improve your language skills. The experience of living in a foreign country can help you pick up new words, idioms, and colloquialisms, leading to more fluency in the language.
Another benefit of studying abroad is the ability to broaden your educational perspectives. Studying in a foreign country exposes you to different teaching styles and methods, providing a fresh and diverse approach to learning. You may be able to take courses or attend lectures that would not be available at your home institution, giving you access to unique and cutting-edge information.
To make the most of your study abroad experience, it is important to plan ahead and prepare thoroughly. Research the country you will be studying in and familiarize yourself with its customs and culture. Plan ahead for transportation, housing, and financial expenses. It is also essential to be open-minded and adaptable, as living in a foreign country can present new challenges.
In conclusion, studying abroad offers numerous benefits that can enrich and broaden your education, as well as your life experience. Immersion in a new culture, the opportunity to improve language skills, and a chance to broaden educational perspectives are just some of the advantages of this experience. With proper preparation, an open mind, and a desire to learn, studying abroad can be a life-changing opportunity that will enrich your education and enrich your life.
